The first circle meetup brought together likeminded individuals across different discipline, communities, with the shared goal of bringing positive change to our communities through engagement with government, local community associations, community stakeholders and as well how to strengthen the Logos Community Circle in Yola.

This enriched our first meetup to discuss vital issues across community and also learn from individual experiences on how to provide greater positive impact in our communities while using technology.

Topics Discussed
- Out of School Children Skill Acquisition
One attendee pointed out the need to engage out of school children with skills such carpentry, welding and fabrication, computer appreciation, plumbing. Participants discussed the topic thereby identifying the need for such initiative which will in turn help the child and community at large. Most of the out of school children are exposed to crime such as stealing, snatching of phones, community thuggery etc. By helping the child/children learn a skill with the support of providing a learning toolbox or kit will help the kid in becoming a responsible member of the community.

2. Public Health Awareness Campaigns
The public Health awareness campaigns is one of the pressing issues around community. This affects every individual but everyone seems to shy away from the problems. Participants identified this as a troublesome issue which needs to be addressed. Participants agreed that public health awareness should be held across communities which lead into mitigating issues such as drainage block, illegal dumping of refuse, clearing breeding environment for mosquitoes etc.

3. Digital Literacy
One of the identified issues in the community is the lack of digital awareness which often lead to members of the community being scammed or expose private information online. All participants indicated this has made many people lost money by falling victim.
Challenges Identified
- Low to zero online safety knowledge

Collaborate with local radio stations and TV stations to promote online safety

Use of print media such billboards, pamphlets, etc. To create awareness

Building the capacity of teachers, local stakeholders and other community members so that they can spread the message across their families and religious organisations.
4. Access to Toilets in Public Schools
Another key information that was identified was the bad condition of toilets in public schools leading to students and pupils urinating and defecating openly. This make the environment very unconducive for learning.

Lack of renovation to make it safe and convenient for both Staff and Students

- Collaborate with schools to renovate or fix toilets to give access to students and teachers
5. Helping the vulnerable to resume school
One other key problem is the inability of some students to resume school. All basic schools in Adamawa are free (from Nursery to Secondary) but despite this initiative from the government some students cant go to school as a result of lack of learning materials like books, school bags and uniforms. Leaving them vulnerable on the street.

Conclusion
The first Logos Circle Yola Meet Up was the first of its kind and with the discussions held from different members from different disciplines, it shows the strong will to bring positive impact to our grassroot communities. It shows that it is a step in the right direction towards bringing improvements to our communities.
