X Space Community Feedback Thread

Hello friends of the cyberstate,

As you know, we have booted up X spaces, maintained a consistent schedule, and gotten serious about growing the community we care so much about.

Personally, I am enjoying hosting the space and being deeply involved in its growth. It is something I am passionate about.

However, I believe we can do better. In that vein, I am keen to receive feedback on how we can improve the quality of the spaces.

Should we have more of them? Should we have different structures? Should we change the current one? Should we have specific guests? Should we have guests or just do the space for the community?

How do you guys see us growing it? What do you want out of it? Is there anything specifically we should change, or is there something that I should do differently as the host?

Thanks for your consideration!

Welcome back!

Would be good to post this in our Discord chat and on X to get responses.

Personally I think the best feedback I can give is to ask community for who to invite and to do exactly what you are doing here

We should have a regular meeting place to continue the discussion from Spaces.

Might be nice to have a more open format (e.g. Discord Calls) where more people will feel joining the conversation.

Alterantively/both, we could just do the spaces longer. This may not be feasible for guests who have time limits.

However, I have been following and joining the Bitangels Spaces discussions and actively engaging. Here is what I learned:

  1. They have roughly the same group of 5 to 7 panelists, all of who are extremely good commuicators.

  2. They average around 350 concurrent viewers each time.

  3. They also conduct the space for an average of 2.5 hrs

  4. I will have a call with Roc next week to discuss how he grows the Bitangels space.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently but I would love to start using our Discord community server more for these types of events. I know people are used to Spaces on X and that it definitely works, has its own function etc. but getting people talking to each other some more inside the server, more geared towards action would be awesome.

How about splitting the open looking Spaces and something more like action geared hangouts, meeting planning etc. in our server?

Yeah, maybe we can do the Discord server meetup one day, and the spaces event continues on Thursday. Could use spaces as the continual funnel for Discord.

My personal feeling is that we keep ramping up the spaces because it is such a hotspot for the community.

The communication is definitely different when you’re ‘on-stage’ + recorded. I imagine there are some people who aren’t confident enough to do that, but still have something valuable to say.

Trialling Discord on Tuesdays and Spaces on Thursdays could be cool.

Let’s do it, ideally it would also be looser more focused on talking about our own personal stuff, not very high level stuff. Just getting to know each other better.

When I speak with Roc next week, I will bring his learnings back to us. He has a lot of experience growing the X space he helps run. The purpose of the call is that he will share that info with me.

Yep, I like this plan.

I’d love for the spaces to be backed up on a podcast feed because twitter app is garbage in terms of resuming and keeping track of which space one listened (or not)

Let’s discuss this with the team. There is a bit more overhead that goes into backing it up via a podcast. But maybe not impossible.
