LOGOS CIRCLE WUKARI School Outreach Report

Date: 2nd October 2026

Location: Mar-Mara Government Girls Secondary School Wukari, Taraba state.

Attendance: 11 Members (plus one NYSC CDS leader)

Introduction

On Friday 2 October 2026, LOGOS Circle Wukari held its first school outreach at Mar-Mara Government Girls Secondary School, Wapang-Aku, under the #OperationEducateAChild campaign. Eleven Circle members took part. The visit followed the planning done at Meetup 4.0 on 26 September 2026, where the school and the topics for the day were agreed.

The Circle engaged students in SS2 and SS3 only. These are the most senior classes, and the school had no hall large enough to hold every student at once. The junior classes are still young children, and the health and career content was better suited to older students.

A representative of NYSC CDS Wukari accompanied the Circle and supported the visit.

During the visit with the principal, we learned that the school has been an exchange school for about 10 years. It admits students from the 19 northern states, including students from areas affected by insurgency such as Borno, Adamawa, Kebbi and Sokoto.

Objectives

• Give senior students practical guidance on health and hygiene.

• Offer early career guidance and information on opportunities open to the girl child.

• Cover every topic agreed at Meetup 4.0.

• Provide hygiene items, including sanitary pads, to students who need them.

• Connect students to agencies they can contact for further guidance or to report a concern.

• Test the school outreach approach before the November and December visits.

Programme Highlights

Circle members met the school and addressed SS2 and SS3 students together. The sessions combined health education with career guidance, and students were given room to ask questions. The NYSC CDS representative led the sessions on examination preparedness and early career guidance. The Circle also donated hygiene items, including sanitary pads, and gave students helpline contacts for agencies that handle gender-based violence and agencies that support female education.

The scope of the visit was a practical decision. Limiting it to the two senior classes kept the group at a size the available space could hold and let the sessions stay focused.

Key Discussions

The topics planned at Meetup 4.0 were all addressed:

• Hygiene and menstrual health.

• Gender-based violence, including how to recognise it and where to seek help.

• The Nigerian education system and the opportunities it opens for the girl child.

• Examination preparedness, presented by the NYSC CDS representative.

• Early career guidance, including how to start thinking about a career path while still in secondary school, also presented by the NYSC CDS representative.

• Where to turn for help: students received helpline contacts for gender-based violence agencies and female education agencies, for further guidance or to report any special concern.

• Interaction with the principal on the school’s background: its decade as an exchange school for students from across the northern states, many from insurgency-affected areas, and what that means for the support these students need.

Outcomes

• The Circle completed its first school outreach.

• All issues the Circle planned to address were covered.

• SS2 and SS3 students received health and career guidance.

• Sanitary pads and other hygiene items were donated to the students.

• Students left with helpline contacts for gender-based violence and female education agencies.

• NYSC CDS Wukari supported the outreach in person.

• The principal welcomed the Circle and invited us to return for a follow-up visit.

• Eleven members gained direct experience running a school session, which will shape later visits.

Next Steps

• Hold the November outreach at Government Day Secondary School, Pwadzu.

• Decide whether the December visit goes to Unique Academy, Waapang-Aku, or becomes an end-of-year event.

• Return to Mar-Mara for a follow-up visit, as the principal invited, to engage the rest of the students properly. We will confirm available space early and plan sessions suited to the junior classes.

• Invite the NYSC CDS representative to support the November and December visits.

• Continue the mattress fundraising for Success Orphanage Home, Pwadzu.

• Review this outreach at the next Circle meetup and carry the lessons into the next school visit.

Conclusion

The Mar-Mara outreach delivered what the Circle set out to do. Senior students received guidance on their health and their futures, and the principal’s invitation to return gives the Circle a clear path to reach the rest of the school.
