LOGOS CIRCLE WUKARI Meet-Up 2.0 JULY Report

Date 25 July 2026

Attendance: 18 Attendees (19 Registered on Luma)

Language: English

Steward: Julius Salman

Overview

Our July meet-up brought together 19 people registered on Luma, with 18 showing up on the day, including 16 returning members. We welcomed two new members and one visitor: the group leader of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Community Development Service (CDS), our partner for the upcoming orphanage outreach.

This session marked a turning point for the Circle. It was our last round table meeting for a while. For the next three months, we’re taking our work directly into the community.

Winnable issue for August

We had planned to launch our back-to-school programme this month, but primary and secondary schools are on holiday, so we’ve moved it to September. In its place, August’s winnable issue is the Healthy Child, Bright Future Campaign, a malaria and typhoid prevention outreach.

Healthy Child, Bright Future Campaign

Malaria & typhoid prevention outreach

The rainy season brings a sharp rise in malaria and typhoid cases, and children are among the most vulnerable. LOGOS Circle Taraba is launching the Healthy Child, Bright Future Campaign to help protect them.

Our August outreach takes us to Success Orphanage, Pwadzu, Wukari, where we’ll support the children with essential supplies and raise awareness on malaria and typhoid prevention. This outreach also serves as our August Circle meet-up.

Date : 29 August 2026

What we’re donating

• Insecticide-treated mosquito nets

• Soap and detergents

• Hand sanitizers

• Socks and gloves

• Food items

• Clothing donated by our members

Funding & partners

Members have pledged to donate materials for this outreach, especially used clothing and other essentials. Since we’re pausing our round table meetups for the next three months, we’ll direct the Circle’s meetup funding, together with member donations, toward purchasing whatever additional items are needed. Some members have also offered to reach out to producers and wholesalers who may be able to offer us significant discounts.

We’re partnering with the NYSC Community Development Service (CDS) Wukari group on this outreach.

This campaign is about protecting vulnerable children and promoting healthy living. We welcome support from any individuals or organisations who’d like to partner with us on this outreach.

Back-to-school planning

We closed the session by sharing a meal and setting up three sub-groups to run our back-to-school programme in September. Each group will visit its assigned school to prepare documentation ahead of the visit.

Schools selected:

1. Mar-Mara Government Girls Secondary School

2. Government Day Secondary School, Pwadzu

3. Unique Academy, Waapang-Aku (Primary School)

What’s next

  • 29 August 2026: Healthy Child, Bright Future Campaign, Success Orphanage, Pwadzu

  • September 2026: Back-to-school programme at Mar-Mara Government Girls Secondary School, Government Day Secondary School (Pwadzu), and Unique Academy, Waapang-Aku (Primary School)

  • October–December 2026: Empowerment and digital literacy initiatives

Conclusion

Meet-Up 2.0 closed our round table format and opened a new phase: three months of direct community work, starting with the Healthy Child, Bright Future Campaign on 29 August, and the back-to-school programme in September, and empowerment and digital literacy initiatives for the rest of the year. Members have already begun donating materials and reaching out to potential suppliers ahead of the August outreach.

This is seriously impressive, @Juliussalman! The judgment on timing. Realising schools are on holiday and swapping your back-to-school programme for the malaria and typhoid outreach, rather than forcing a program no one can attend, is smart and adaptable. And the partnerships are real. Excited to follow this through :raising_hands: Great work man
