Registered on Luma: 17

Languages: English, Telugu

Participants

10 attendees representing a diverse mix of Visakhapatnam’s community:

  • Developers and tech enthusiasts

  • Startup founders

  • Students and young professionals

  • Marketing and education professionals

  • NGO and social work enthusiasts

Topics Discussed

Topic 1 — Introductions and Why Logos Circle

Key Points:

  • New members introduced themselves and shared why they joined

  • Brief overview of Logos Circles — the movement and how Circles fit into the bigger picture

  • Returning members shared their experience from Circle #1 and what brought them back.

Topic 2 — First Winnable Issue: Beach Cleanup and Plastic Waste Awareness Drive

Key Points:

  • Circle #2 was structured as action-first — improving cleanliness of a shared public space in Vizag through community-led action

  • Teams were formed and distributed trash bags and gloves

  • Cleaned the RK Beach stretch from Gokul Park toward Novotel end

  • Water bottles distributed mid-cleanup

  • GVMC vehicle arrived and collected all filled trash bags

  • Awareness raised among locals about plastic dumping in water bodies and coastal areas

  • Spontaneous participation — strangers passing by joined the cleanup voluntarily and appreciated the initiative

  • Hands sanitized after cleanup

  • Group photo taken with collected waste bags

Insights:

  • Community response was overwhelmingly positive — locals stopping to appreciate and join shows genuine need for this kind of action in Vizag

  • GVMC coordination worked smoothly — bags collected efficiently

  • Early morning 6 AM timing was ideal — beach was accessible, weather manageable, activity completed before heat

Challenges:

  • 7 registered participants did not show up — typical dropout rate for early morning events

Action Items:

  • Document and share cleanup photos

Topic 3 — Breakfast Discussion: Logos Movement Deep Dive and Problem Statements

Key Points:

  • Post-cleanup breakfast at Varun Eats, Visakhapatnam

  • Revisited Circle #1 problem statements with new members

  • Deep discussion on what Logos is — movement, tech, and civil society angle

  • New problem statements raised by participants:

  1. Community Issue Reporting Platform — A platform where Vizag residents can post local area problems (infrastructure, sanitation, environment) and GVMC, NGOs or community groups can respond and take action. Currently people call GVMC individually with no transparency or tracking.

  2. Medical Camps in Village Areas — Focus on women’s health in underserved village communities around Vizag

  3. Student Direction and Learning Hub — Most students struggling with outdated college syllabus, no practical skills, no career direction. Proposal to organize awareness sessions, skill workshops, mentorship and internship support for Vizag students

Insights:

  • Student problem resonated strongly with most members as many are students themselves

  • Community issue reporting platform identified as potentially high impact but needs deeper exploration of GVMC collaboration feasibility

  • Breakfast format after cleanup worked extremely well — people were relaxed, open and conversational after working together

Action Items:

  • Share all problem statements in WhatsApp group

  • Run poll for members to vote on Circle #3 winnable issue

  • Explore GVMC relationship for community platform feasibility

Winnable Issues Update

First Winnable Issue — COMPLETED :white_check_mark:

Improving the cleanliness of Vizag’s shared public spaces through community-led action and raising awareness about plastic dumping in coastal areas and water bodies.

  • Beach cleanup at RK Beach successfully completed

  • Waste collected and handed to GVMC

  • Awareness raised among locals and beach visitors

  • Spontaneous community participation from strangers = organic impact beyond the Circle

Next Winnable Issue — Under Discussion

Three candidates identified from Circle #2 breakfast discussion. WhatsApp group poll going out this week for members to vote. Final decision in Circle #3.

Top candidates:

  • Student direction, awareness and mentorship hub

  • Community issue reporting platform for Vizag

No blockers at this stage.

What We Learned / To Improve / New Ideas

What worked well:

  • Action-first format — cleanup before discussion created strong group bond

  • Early 6 AM timing — ideal for beach activity, done before heat

  • GVMC coordination — smooth waste collection, vehicle came on time

  • Breakfast discussion — most natural and open conversation format yet

  • IYFS ground support — made logistics effortless

  • Strangers joining spontaneously — proof of community resonance

  • Volunteer system — 2 volunteers helped with distribution and coordination effectively

Areas for improvement:

  • Stronger confirmation system needed — 7 no-shows from 17 registered

  • Need day-before WhatsApp confirmation + morning reminder with exact location pin

  • More awareness materials — printed cards or banners would have helped communicate the message to beach visitors

New ideas:

  • Invite GVMC contact to Circle #3 — builds official relationship

  • Create printed awareness cards in Telugu for next cleanup

  • Explore collaboration with more NGOs for Circle #3

Conclusion

Logos Circle Vizag #2 marked a significant step forward — from discussion to action.

Our first winnable issue is complete. A beach stretch in Visakhapatnam is cleaner today because 10 people showed up at 6 AM on a Sunday and did something about it. Strangers joined. GVMC responded. The community noticed.

That’s the foundation. Circle #3 will go deeper — a real winnable issue voted on by the community, with a plan to build something lasting for Vizag.

The momentum is real.
