7 attendees representing 5 countries: Venezuela, Russia, Cuba, Mexico and Spain. All participants are legal residents of Spain, so this is a standing local group rather than a visiting audience — the group can reconvene.
Backgrounds: developers, startup founders, crypto enthusiasts, privacy advocates, designers.
Areas of interest: human rights · AI · blockchain · domestic violence prevention · node operation · refugee and migration issues.
The composition is worth noting for what follows. Three of the four countries represented are ones people leave for political or economic reasons, and the interests the group brought — human rights, refugees, domestic violence — are not the usual crypto-meetup topics. That shaped the whole session: the privacy and censorship-resistance properties of Logos were discussed as things these participants have a personal use for, not as abstract features.
Topics discussed
1. Logos, and forming the Madrid Circle
Key points and insights. The session covered what Logos is, how to use it, and what a Circle is and how to create one. The group decided to constitute itself as the Logos Circle Madrid, based at NovicIAdo Tech Hub.
Outcome. Noviciado now runs a Logos node. This moves the Circle from intent to participation in the network on day one — the venue is not only a meeting place but an operating node.
Technologies mentioned: Logos (Nomos L1, Waku messaging, Codex storage), node operation.
Next steps: keep the node running and report on it at the next Circle; use it as the reference installation for anyone in the group who wants to run their own.
2. Domestic violence — an application on Logos
Key points and insights. The discussion of domestic violence turned into a concrete build proposal. Elena, one of the participants, decided to build an application to monitor and document domestic abuse against women, on Logos. Status: a decision to build, not yet a project — nothing has been developed so far. What exists is a committed person and a use case, which is the right starting point but should not be reported as progress.
Why the technology fits. This is a use case where the platform’s properties are the point rather than a selling feature. Evidence of abuse must be tamper-evident to be useful later, and it must not be readable by an abuser who has access to the victim’s devices or accounts. Censorship resistance and private messaging are what make the application viable, not what make it fashionable.
Open questions: the threat model needs defining before the architecture — who is the adversary, what happens if the device is seized, how a victim gets evidence out under duress. Coordination with organisations already working in this field is likely necessary; a tool of this kind built without them risks being unusable in practice or, worse, unsafe.
Next steps: scope the project with Elena, define the threat model, and identify whether this becomes the Circle’s winnable issue (see below).
3. AI — training builders and running nodes with agents
Key points and insights. The group discussed AI development, and a concrete programme emerged. NovicIAdo will run AI development courses with three linked purposes:
- Train people to compete in the Lambda Prize (λ) hackathon
- Build applications on Logos
- Run nodes with AI agents — automating node operation so that running infrastructure is not limited to people with sysadmin skills
Why this matters for the Circle. It converts the Circle from a discussion group into a pipeline. People arrive interested, learn to build, and enter the Logos ecosystem as hackathon participants, application developers or node operators. NovicIAdo already runs an AI school with a proven methodology, so this uses existing capability rather than inventing one.

Next steps: align the course curriculum with Lambda Prize requirements; announce the September cohort to the Circle.
4. Materials and channels created for reuse
Three things were produced at and around the session, all intended for the wider Logos community rather than only this Circle:
- A presentation — “Logos Network: Construyendo Sociedades Paralelas” (gamma.app). Anyone who wants to introduce Logos at their own event now has something ready to present. It is in Spanish, which makes it directly reusable by Circles across Spain and Latin America — a gap in the existing material
- A Linktree hub collecting the important Logos links in one place: linktr.ee/Logos_Circles
- A Madrid Circle topic in the Logos Circles Telegram group — t.me/logoscircles. The Circle now has a standing channel inside the official community rather than a private side chat, so coordination between sessions is visible to other Circles and to the Logos team
Next steps: share the presentation and Linktree with the Logos team for distribution to other Circles if useful. Use the Telegram topic to agree the September date and to keep momentum through August.
Winnable issues update
Status: a candidate has emerged and needs confirming.
The Logos Circles framework asks each Circle to pick one visible, winnable issue and build momentum from it. The Madrid Circle did not open with a chosen issue, but one surfaced organically: an application to monitor and document domestic abuse against women, proposed by Elena.
Assessed against the framework, it fits well. It sits in the security and welfare issue areas. It is visible and locally meaningful. It has a named person who wants to build it rather than a group hoping someone will. And it is a case where Logos’ properties are load-bearing — which makes it a demonstration of the technology, not merely a project that happens to use it.
Current status: Elena has decided to build it. No development has started — there is no prototype, specification or repository yet.
Updates outside the Circle meeting: a Madrid Circle topic was opened in the Logos Circles Telegram group (t.me/logoscircles), which is where coordination now continues between sessions.
Blockers:
- The issue has not been formally adopted as the Circle’s winnable issue; that should be the first item at the next session
- The threat model is undefined, and for this particular application that is a safety question, not a design preference
- No contact yet with organisations working on domestic violence in Madrid, whose input would determine whether the tool is usable in the real world
Planned follow-up and ownership:
- Elena — scope the application and define the threat model before any code is written
- NovicIAdo (Vladi) — host, run the Logos node, deliver the AI courses feeding builders into Logos and Lambda Prize
- The Circle — formally adopt or reject the winnable issue at the September session; coordinate in the Telegram topic in the meantime
What we learned / to improve / new ideas
What worked well
The venue as infrastructure, not just a room. The session ended with a Logos node actually running at Noviciado. A meetup that produces working infrastructure the same evening is a different kind of event from one that produces interest.
A small, high-signal group. Seven people is a modest number, but the composition was unusually good: four nationalities, a genuine mix of developers, founders, designers and privacy advocates, and — crucially — all legal residents, so the group can meet again. A real project proposal came out of a room of seven, which a room of fifty passive attendees would not necessarily have produced.
Letting the agenda follow the room. The domestic violence discussion was not on the planned topic list. It produced the most concrete outcome of the evening.
Building reusable assets and a standing channel. The Spanish-language presentation, the Linktree hub and the Madrid topic in the Logos Circles Telegram group all outlive the event. The Telegram topic in particular means the Circle keeps coordinating in the open, inside the official community, rather than going quiet between sessions.
Areas for improvement
We did not use Logos’ own distribution. Our event checklist included adding Logos as a co-host on Luma (team@acid.info) and submitting the event to the official Logos calendar. Neither was done. That is free reach through the Logos network that we simply left on the table, and it is the most likely single explanation for a modest turnout. For September: do this first, not last.
Announcement reach was narrow. The event was announced on X and through our own channels. Partner-project channels and community announcements were planned and not completed.
No winnable issue prepared in advance. The Circles guidance is to come in with a candidate issue. We arrived without one and were fortunate that a strong candidate emerged anyway. For September, propose one in the event description — it also makes the Luma page read as action rather than as another crypto meetup.
Record the Luma registration number against attendance. We should be tracking registered-versus-attended from the start; it is the number that tells us whether the problem is reach or conversion.
New ideas to try next time
- Open the September session by formally adopting the winnable issue — it gives the Circle a spine and something measurable to report next time
- Invite an organisation working on domestic violence to the session where Elena presents the project, so the build is grounded in what practitioners actually need
- Demonstrate the node live — show the Logos node running at Noviciado and walk through running one with an AI agent. The most persuasive argument for participating is watching it work
- Recruit from the AI course into the Circle — the September cohort is a natural feeder, and it links two NovicIAdo activities that would otherwise run in parallel
- Publish a short recap and photos — a public track record makes the next event easier to fill
Scheduling note
The next Madrid Circle is planned for September 2026. The exact date is not fixed — it will be agreed in the Madrid topic in the Logos Circles Telegram group (t.me/logoscircles).
August is effectively dead for meetups in Madrid — the city empties. Rather than run a poorly attended session for the sake of cadence, August is better used to prepare: agree the date, adopt the winnable issue in advance, complete the Logos co-host and calendar submission, and open the AI course enrolment so the September Circle has both an agenda and an audience.
