Logos circle Ilorin(July edition)

Overview

The July edition of the Logos Circle was held on 29 July 2026, recording our largest gathering to date, with 42 attendees, including more than 10 first time participants. The session began on a relaxed and engaging note, giving members the opportunity to reconnect before transitioning into the day’s discussions and activities.

Send Help Platform Updates

One of the key follow ups from the previous month’s circle was the continued development of our emergency response platform and the planned verification of emergency contact numbers across the country.

Over the past month, however, we discovered another platform, wahala.org, that is addressing a similar problem while also using the “Wahala” name. Following a community discussion, members unanimously agreed to rebrand our platform to Send Help to establish a distinct identity and better position the project for future growth. The new branding will be reflected on the live platform in the coming weeks - https://wahala-mu.vercel.app.

In addition to the rebrand, the project has recorded several important milestones.

  • A mobile application has been developed and is currently available for iOS users, with broader platform support planned.
  • Emergency contact information for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has been collated across all 36 states, significantly improving the quality of our emergency response database.
  • Initial exploration has begun on integrating an AI powered phone based agent that can be reached through a standard phone number. This would allow people with lower end devices or limited internet access to receive emergency assistance without relying on the web or mobile application. The long term vision also includes supporting local languages and dialects to improve accessibility and emergency response outcomes.
  • As part of our continued alignment with the Logos ecosystem, we also plan to integrate the Logos Storage Layer into the platform, before the next circle. This will provide a more robust and decentralized foundation for storing critical platform data while allowing us to leverage the broader infrastructure being developed within the Logos ecosystem.

Civic Engagement Discussion

Members also revisited conversations around the upcoming election period and discussed the role technology and community driven initiatives can play in promoting positive civic participation.

During this discussion, the community identified a new potential winnable issue focused on improving literacy within underserved communities. Members agreed to organise a Book Drive, encouraging both community members and external supporters to contribute funds towards purchasing books for children in underserved areas across the city and, eventually, the state. The initiative aims to address the growing literacy gap while creating meaningful, measurable community impact.

Community Growth and Storytelling

As with previous editions, the importance of content creation, storytelling, and advocacy was reinforced as a critical part of growing both the Logos Circle and the wider Logos ecosystem.

Members acknowledged that they have not consistently documented or shared their experiences within the community over the past few weeks. To address this, everyone was encouraged to actively create and publish content about future meetings, project updates, and personal learnings, helping increase awareness of the community’s work and attract more contributors.

Conclusion

The July edition of the Logos Circle was our largest and one of our most impactful gatherings so far. Beyond celebrating significant community growth, the session showcased meaningful progress on the newly rebranded Send Help platform, including mobile development, emergency data verification, and early exploration of AI assisted emergency support.

The community also expanded its focus beyond technology by identifying literacy as a new winnable issue and committing to a Book Drive that will directly benefit children in underserved communities. Combined with renewed emphasis on storytelling and community advocacy, the discussions and decisions made during the session have laid a strong foundation for continued impact in the months ahead.

The Send Help progress is genuinely impressive. The rebrand was the right call! The AI phone-based agent idea is the standout for me though. One honest note… the Book Drive for literacy is a lovely initiative, and a book drive with a target and a date is a clean, winnable issue. My only caution is focus. Send Help is your flagship and it’s at a critical, high-momentum stage, so I’d make sure the Book Drive runs alongside it as a lighter community effort rather than pulling energy away from the platform. You can absolutely do both, just keep Send Help as the priority.

Really strong circle. Excited to see Send Help go live with the new branding
