Our May circle was centered around getting new members familiar with logos and the technological stack and updating them on our winnable issue.
as with previous sessions, a mental health professional was invited to speak to the Circle’s winnable issue. The speaker had confirmed availability for the original date of May 30 with assurance of showing up that day.
following the reschedule to May 31 (necessitated by the Biafra Remembrance Day holiday), the speaker was no longer available on the new date, the engagement could not proceed as planned this month but will still be revisited this month.
with May marking the Mental Health Awareness Month, our session featured an open discussion on insecurity and check ups of mental health of each individuals within the circle, alongside updates on the Circle’s technical work.
• our circle members engaged in active, different perspective debate around privacy, data ownership and digital sovereignty, one of the most lively discussions held to date.
• Updates were shared on Logos node development, with members identifying volunteers who could help support ongoing node updates and other activities.
also a short, experimental peer-to-peer training session was run during the meeting to gauge member interest ahead of a full programme rollout. invited to indicate areas of interest and the kind of training they would like to receive or lead.
this will inform us on how to design the structured P2P training programme referenced in the April report.
the production of the community documentary is still yet to be completed. One scene was not properly shot and requires a reshoot before the film can be finalised, but will be concluded this month and shown at the circle as one of our winnable issues solved which is; creating a documentary awareness film.
progress on the mental health partnerships is being slowed down, we’re currently broadening our outreach rather than wait indefinitely on a single source.
a formal proposal was submitted following the earlier meeting with the Dr. Jeremiah
No response has been received to date; the engagement is currently stalled same goes with Bespoke therapeutic consults
rather than allow the winnable issue timeline to be held up, we’ve identified private universities and credible initiatives with existing mental health and counselling infrastructure as alternative partners.
two private universities have been identified and planning on outreach by next week which are Godfrey Okoye University and Coal City University both in Enugu town.
next our goal is to have a concrete update on at least one of these partnerships and our resource library before the June 28 Circle meeting.
