Logos Circle Berlin, May
Date: May 20, 2026
Location: Berlin
Registered on Luma: Yes
Attended: 5 participants, including returning attendees
Languages: English, German
Participants
Attendees included Irena (current steward), Leo / Civil Monkey, Marcel, Kris (Logos), and Bastin.
Participants represented backgrounds in crypto, governance experimentation, community organising, Radical Exchange, and privacy-focused technology. Topics of interest included local chapter development, governance tooling, incentivisation systems, and privacy-related educational initiatives.
This meetup differed from a typical Berlin Circle meetup in that it was organised relatively last minute, partly because Kris from the Logos team happened to be in Berlin, and partly because Irena would not be available the following week. Given the profile and interest of the participants the meeting focused more heavily on broader strategic discussions around circles, governance evolution, and coordination.
It was also discussed that Irena is currently acting as steward after taking over from Severin, but will only remain in Berlin until mid-July, making steward succession an important topic.
Additional context included reflections from the recent Plural event, insights from attending Re:publica (shared by Leo) and discussion around upcoming activities during Berlin Blockchain Week.

-
selecting issue buckets for circles

Reflections from the Plural Event
The group discussed insights from the recent Plural event, particularly around governance tooling and collective decision-making.
Key points & insights
-
Quadratic voting was highlighted as highly effective during the event.
-
The tool Voqua was specifically mentioned as useful.
-
Participants discussed how quadratic voting could potentially be used in the future for:
-
initial bucket selection
-
prioritising winnable issues
-
larger-scale circle coordination
-
Challenges or open questions
-
Whether formal voting mechanisms are needed in smaller circles.
-
How to preserve consensus-driven culture while still scaling participation.
Solutions, ideas, or proposals
-
Leo noted that voting should ideally remain a fallback option.
-
In smaller groups, agreement on a winnable issue should generally emerge organically.
-
For larger groups, quadratic voting tools such as Voqua could still provide value.
Technologies or tools mentioned
-
Quadratic voting
Incentivisation & Plural Management
A substantial part of the discussion focused on contributor incentivisation and sustainable participation within circles.
Key points & insights
-
Participants acknowledged the recurring issue that roughly 20% of participants often perform 80% of the work.
-
Bastin introduced concepts developed within Radical Exchange around “plural management”.
Key features discussed
-
Contributors receive management points.
-
Participants who actually execute work receive the highest weighting.
-
Prediction-market style mechanisms could allow participants to “bet” on which winnable issues or initiatives are most likely to succeed.
Technologies or tools mentioned
-
Radical Exchange
-
Plural Management
-
Telegram
Additional ideas discussed
-
Bastin who created PluralEvents intends to port functionality to Telegram rather than requiring users to install another standalone application.
-
Linking circles to existing hubs or physical spaces could strengthen incentivisation systems.
-
Points could potentially be redeemed for:
-
access to spaces
-
mentorship or advice
-
future advisor-network structures
-
Challenges or open questions
-
Direct access to the Logos team for guidance may not scale indefinitely.
-
Long-term sustainability of advisor-based systems remains unclear.
What emerged strongly
- Participants broadly agreed that community itself remains one of the strongest incentives for long-term contribution and participation.
Circle Operations & Meetup Format
The group discussed practical improvements to Berlin Circle coordination and operations.
Key points & insights
-
Kris suggested that all previous circle attendees should ideally receive updates and invitations to future events.
-
Irena currently did not have access to previous attendee contact information.
-
The Logos team can support steward onboarding and communications access where needed.
Concrete example discussed
- Marcel accidentally arrived at the wrong location because communication channels between previous and current circles were fragmented.
Ideas or proposals
-
Improve onboarding and operational guidance for stewards.
-
Add clearer guidance to the wiki regarding contacting previous attendees
Steward Succession
With Irena leaving Berlin in mid-July, steward succession became an important discussion topic.
Potential candidates discussed
-
Leo / Civil Monkey:
-
recently established Berlin as a more permanent base
-
has a call planned with Kirsten next week
-
-
Bastin:
-
considered a strong candidate
-
already leads the Radical Exchange chapter locally, will propose to merge them
-
Challenges or open questions
- Candidates should determine individually whether they want to take on the responsibility before formally proceeding.
Upcoming Events & Berlin Blockchain Week
The group discussed coordination around upcoming events during Berlin Blockchain Week.
Key points
-
Irena was in discussion with other Logos team members about organising an event on 15 June
-
Kris mentioned that an action-oriented event is already likely planned for 18 June at Bum Berlin (to be confirmed).
Proposal
- Instead of organising two separate events, participants proposed joining forces and concentrating outreach around the larger shared event.
Winnable Issues Update
Current Winnable Issue Status
-
The previously discussed cashless payment system initiative is currently inactive.
-
The most recent proposal is privacy-focused educational initiative around children’s online presence emerged as the strongest current proposal.
Updates Outside the Meeting
- Irena has already initiated discussions with the ZK AV Club regarding recording infrastructure.
Blockers
-
Steward transition uncertainty in Berlin.
-
Limited continuity due to steward changes and communication access issues.
Planned Follow-up Actions
-
Irena will continue exploring the privacy initiative and potentially carry it into the Prague circle.
-
Potential steward candidates will reflect on whether they want to take on the role and reach out to Amelia if interested.
-
Kris suggested that Berlin should first identify a new steward before selecting a new long-term winnable issue locally.
-
Kris will provide feedback to Amelia regarding updates needed in the wiki and operational guidance.
