Circle Leads Updates: September

General Updates:

  • Consensus to use the local city-name Discord channels for circle leader updates (summaries, how events went, etc.) so the rest of the server can easily follow.
  • Suggestion: also create LinkedIn events leaders can invite their connections directly (worked well in Barcelona).

Vasco: Brno

  • Challenges: organisational mistakes; difficulty starting discussions on local issues (especially privacy).
  • Leadership: offered role to lead the next Circle to an engaged member, waiting for a response.
  • Upcoming: Jarrad visiting Dark Prague at the beginning of October, has agreed to come ot the October Brno Circle as well.
  • Opportunities:
    • Write an article in Czech on privacy (a winnable issue).
    • Education is the most valuable focus.
    • Local circle mainly devs/node operators — could help other circles with development needs.

  • “Giveback” members are ready to get involved.
  • Next steps: find date and location for Circle to mobilise this group (volunteers from local Web3 clubs).

  • High interest in joining Circle.
  • Next steps: plan another circle next month, confirm date and location.
  • Created a WhatsApp group.
  • Mention: Fundbrave, could be a winnable issue for the group.

Severoni: Berlin

  • First circle planned for October 17th at Volksemart 1.
  • Venue has history of hosting Bitcoin meetups; community members already familiar.
  • Cooperatively run venue in central Berlin — symbolic pushback against gentrification.
  • Note: Amelia to follow up on local CCs to support the event.

Amelia: Lisbon

  • Meeting in smaller focus groups (outside the main circle) has been effective for working on winnable issues.
  • High-level issue defined: supporting the youth and young adults of Quinta do Mocho — helping them stay engaged through art and other enriching activities (a positive alternative to street life).
  • Success: secured an opportunity for local artists to showcase at the Rare Effect Festival in November.
  • Next steps:
    • Circle meets again next week.
    • Return visit to Mocho and the local government office to pursue request for a physical creative space.
    • Host a Q+A session for community proposals related to Rare Effect.

Sterlin:

  • Will create a proposal for how to use focus groups to hash out winnable issues.
  • Plan: create a workshop session for training local leads using the onboarding documentation.
